The "Mongiello's Original" Family Tradition Lives On!

Welcome. Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to Formaggio Italian Cheese Specialties. Founded in 1992, our eleven years of determination have firmly established our position in the mozzarella specialty industry.

We, at Formaggio Italian Cheese Specialties base our professionalism on the principle that Quality + Imagination = Success....while using the finest ingredients, flavors and toppings, we continually take mozzarella to new heights.

Anthony Mongiello continues his family's tradition; a dedication to innovation. In 1925, his grandfather, Lorenzo Mongiello established a specialty canning corporation for ricotta cheese. Lorenzo designed these metal tapered cans and built machinery to produce them. Lorenzo's son, Angelo Mongiello Sr. continued with his father's industrial creativity. After watching how workers painfully molded mozzarella, with their bare hands in boiling hot water, he invented the first automated mozzarella cheese making machine. Angelo subsequently earned over a dozen patents on industry related items, as well as custom built equipment that we at Formaggio still use today. In the book "The History of Italian Cheese in America", published in the early 1950's, Angelo Sr. is listed as inventor of the first mozzarella making machine in the U.S. With tireless dedication and imagination, the possibilities for specialty cheese products have been and will continue to be endless. The Formaggio difference is the Flavor and Quality that goes into every product.

Today, Anthony Mongiello continues to put family pride into every Formaggio product. - "We invite you to become a part of our family tradition".

We are proud to announce our move to our new corporate headquarters and production (H.A.C.C.P) facility in sprawling Liberty, New York.  Staten Island, NY has represented a great growth chapter in our company's history.  To better serve our clients, we have now moved onward to a larger and more accommodating facility with greater growth potential for the future of Formaggio Italian Cheese Specialties, Inc. - The reception by the county has been tremendously positive and we're looking forward to a long and prosperous association in our new corporate home! It is a truly beautiful part of this great state with many historical hamlets that make up the Town of Liberty. We are proud to call it our new home.  Come visit us some time in Liberty, New York!
